Baja California governor announced this month a major investment in the medical device sector. CODAN, manufacturer of IV sets and accessories for infusion and transfusion therapy will open a manufacturing facility in Tijuana, the so called Mexico´s medical device hub.
The announcement was made during governor´s official visit to company´s headquarters in Lensahn, Germany. The project is expected to bring 150 new jobs to the state in the first phase, which is planned to be accomplished by 2020.
Codan also operates manufacturing plants in Santa Ana, California, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and Portugal offering a strong commitment to outstanding quality, on time delivery, flexibility, quick response, and innovation.
Cristina Hermosillo, Chair of the Tijuana EDC said “Codan is a significant investment for Baja California, demonstrating the state´s attractiveness for medtech projects; few regions in the world are able to concentrate capabilities like highly experienced workforce, engineering talent, and a binational innovation platform, as we do”
She also underlined the thriving medical device industry established in the state: “In the last year we made important investment announcements such as Flex Medical Device Center of Excellence in Tijuana, Greatbatch inaugurated its second plant in Tijuana, Fisher & Paykel new molding capabilities
She said the reason why a highly innovative company with 60 years in the healthcare market. like CODAN, has chosen Tijuana is because firms find in the city a unique place that concentrates all the elements to compete globally.
