Fifty Binational Business Leaders at Cross-Border Business Forum

CobSMPdWAAA_yQQ.jpg-largeIn July we had the opportunity to participate as speakers at the first edition of the Cross Border Business Forum organized by the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.

We congratulate Jerry Sanders & the San Diego Chamber team for this effort; bringing together 50 binational business leaders with the purpose of sharing experiences, knowledge and resources needed in order to take advantage of CaliBaja as a platform to thrive within the international marketplace.

Our President Cristina Hermosillo participated in a panel along with Gibert Ulloa, Director of Economic Development of the city of Tijuana, and Francisco Sanchez, Business Development Manager, Procopio Law; the three panelists shared insights on how companies can grow their business across the border.

Panelists discussed how companies can expand to Mexico highlighting that 85-90 percent of manufacturing business in Tijuana are U.S. companies, additionally in the last year Tijuana has received 1.4 billion dollars in foreign direct investment, most of this has been directed to the manufacturing industry.

Cristina Hermosillo shared how Tijuana EDC is working to attract FDI to Tijuana facilitating the establishment (by soft landing) of industrial investment in Tijuana.

Thru the corporation´s activities and with the participation of its membership, Tijuana EDC have contributed in the attraction and establishment of 200 companies, offering to investors free of charge services such as: Information on Mexican Business framework, site selection, contract manufacturers listings, government liaison among others.

We have all been pleased to participate at this first edition, the next forum will be held on Wednesday October 26 in Tijuana.
